Planned Parenthood Southeast Endorses Hilliard

September 16, 2018

Watkinsville — Marisue Hilliard, candidate for Georgia State Senate District 46, was endorsed by Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates last week. Georgia State Senate District 46 includes all of Oconee County and parts of Clarke and Walton counties.

“I support accessible and affordable healthcare for all Georgians and that includes access to reproductive health services,” Hilliard said. “Access to healthcare services — especially family planning, contraception, Pap tests, breast exams, and more — impacts the socioeconomic well-being and overall health of women, and by extension, their families.”

PPSEA — the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Southeast — released its list of endorsed candidates for the 2018 statewide elections in Georgia. This list fills fill out the slate topped by Stacey Abrams, who was endorsed in April by the organization.

Hilliard and the other endorsed candidates were recognized for their commitment to act as strong advocates for Planned Parenthood and the communities who rely on the quality health care provided every day. Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations represent young women and men, low-income women, the LGBT community, and communities of color — all groups hit the hardest by constant attacks on reproductive health care.

“Let’s be clear — reproductive rights and health are on the ballot in 2018 and we are in the fight of our lives over bodily autonomy,” Staci Fox, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates said in a news release. “We are proud to stand with candidates throughout Georgia who have pledged to boldly protect Planned Parenthood and the thousands of Georgians who rely on us every year for health care. This is about so much more than Planned Parenthood. Health care for an entire generation is at stake.”
